Intro

ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) are electronic systems in a vehicle that use advanced technologies to assist the driver that permit to reduce road fatalities, improve safety and comfort of vehicles. It is possible using a variety of sensors to collect information about the vehicle's surroundings, such as radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors. This information is then processed by a computer in real time to identify potential risks and take action to avoid them.

Some common ADAS systems are:

  • Adaptive cruise control

  • Lane departure warning

  • Blind spot monitoring

  • Automatic emergency braking

  • Pedestrian detection

Pedestrian Safety: As pedestrians are among the most vulnerable road users, and they are continuously in risk of collision with vehicles, bicycles, even other pedestrians. Pedestrian safety systems were developed in order to avoid pedestrian injuries and deaths caused by road traffic accidents. These systems are designed to prevent collisions between vehicles and pedestrians and consist of alert to the driver about the presence of pedestrians, automatically apply the brakes to avoid a collision, and make it easier for the driver to see pedestrians in low-light conditions.

Collission Avoidance:

Permit to alert drivers to potential collisions with other vehicles, even if those vehicles are not in the driver's line of sight. This can help drivers to avoid accidents, especially in situations where the driver does not have enough time to react.

Wildlife Safety: ADAS Wildlife safety are advanced driver assistance systems specifically designed to help drivers avoid collisions with wildlife.

These systems can detect animals on the road and alert the driver, or even automatically apply the brakes to avoid a collision. Some features of this system are animal classification, distance estimation and night vision.
